Bako Ambianda highlight the three pillars of United Nations and the works of the United Nations Foundation which supports the UN and strengthens US-UN relations through public education, advocacy, and outreach. The Foundation also supports UN efforts financially through grant making and by building innovative public-private partnerships with corporations, NGO’s, foundations, and individuals.

He first used this term in the Declaration of the United Nations of January 1, 1942 during World War II where representatives from 26 nations came together and pledged that their governments would continue to cooperate with each other to fight the Axis Powers.

Who lead the team of designers who designed the UN has a logo and flag in 1945? A team of designer led by Oliver Lincoln Lundquist designed the original UN logo during the United Nations Conference on International Organization in 1945 and it was approved on December 7, 1946.

The design is “a map of the world representing an azimuthal equidistant projection centered on the North Pole, inscribed in a wreath consisting of crossed conventionalized branches of the olive tree, in gold on a field of smoke-blue with all water areas in white. The Assembly meets in regular session intensively from September to December each year, and thereafter as required.

Seventy years ago, 50 nations came together in San Francisco, USA, to create a new organization for peace, prosperity and human rights -- the United Nations. The 70th Anniversary was an opportunity to reflect and look back on the UN’s history and take stock of its enduring achievements. It was a day devoted to making known to peoples of the world the aims and achievements of the United Nations Organization.
